The Comfort of Monsters

Monsters are emotionally efficient. They localize fear, externalize blame, and provide rules. Don’t enter the forest. Don’t invite it in. Don’t look back.

Real anxiety has no such boundaries. It leaks. It has no face. Monsters simplify terror into something actionable.

Psychologically, this is containment. By giving fear a body, we regain orientation. Even defeat becomes imaginable.

This is why monsters persist in modern forms: glitches, stalkers, entities, unseen systems. The shape changes. The function remains.

A monster is not a delusion.
It is a mental tool.
